Holloween!

This week in honor of Halloween, we decided to take pictures that told a story that related to Halloween. We spent the first 30 minutes of class reminiscing about things we were scared of as children, and created short stories revolving around these ideas. We thought about robberies, and monsters and kidnappings as well as giant spiders and ghosts. Our pictures represent something that scares us, in true Halloween spirit!

Man vs. Wild

Animation

Over the past few weeks in photography class, we've been toying with the idea of creating stories using still lives. We used toy soldiers, and other toys to create a sequence of images that told a story. We also experimented with different perspectives and backgrounds. We posted multiple drafts of each story as well as taking a series of single-frame shots. These are pictures of our animation stories.

Avedon Portraits

This week we watched a movie about Richard Avedon. We studied his way of taking portraits, he takes people completely unaware, and at their worst or when their true feelings show through. He manages to capture people when they are most vulnerable. By doing this he gets pictures of famous people with real expressions that no one else sees. This week we were trying to do the same thing.
